As part of its Single Market Strategy for Europe, http://ec.europa.eu/priorities/digital-single-market/docs/dsm-communication_en.pdf, the European Commission says it will look at whether the existing “Cookie Directive” should be expanded to cover “information society service providers using the internet to provide communication services,” which are not now included within the narrow confines of the Directive’s coverage of cookies and other information placed on the terminal equipment of users.
